PINE INP monitoring at Svalbard

KIT/ Alexander Böhmländer

The ExINP_GVB campaign is a long-running campaign by Naruki Hiranuma (WTAMU) with the focus on understanding ice-nucleating particle (INP) populations in the high Arctic. During spring 2023 (13.03. – 17.04.) this campaign is enriched by the online instrument PINE, measuring INP concentrations with a high temporal resolution in the mixed-phase regime. The PINE is located at the italian Gruvebadet Atmosphere Laboratory (GVB) in the research village Ny-Ålesund on the archipelago Spitsbergen. The campaign is hosted by the French - German Arctic Research Base AWIPEV, a joined effort by Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and the French Polar Institute Paul Emile Victor (IPEV).
