Kinetics of oxidation of volatile biogenic organic substances

  • Within the scope of the master thesis the reaction kinetics of the oxidation of important atmospheric organic substances, which are emitted by plants like e.g. terpenes, is investigated depending on the temperature. The oxidation is carried out by ozone or OH radicals in the AIDA simulation chamber. The concentration changes of the gases and the formation of aerosol particles are observed with mass spectrometers. The results of the work are temperature dependent rate constants obtained by comparing the observations with a kinetic model.
