RADAR4KIT

Tuesday, 20 April 2021, 15:15-16:15
online

With its observation and simulation data, the Institute of Meteorology and Climate Research is one of the largest data producers at KIT. These numerous and sometimes large data sets are not only generated here, but also processed scientifically. In order to publish the scientific results on the one hand and to make the data available to other scientists for further use on the other hand, the 'FAIR' ("findable, accessible, interoperable, and re-usable") provision of the data itself is a basic requirement nowadays.

At KIT, the RADAR4KIT service was set up as an institutional repository for research data and launched by the SCC in December 2020 to enable data producers to publish their datasets and make them accessible. RADAR4KIT archives data in bwDataArchive and uses the RADAR software as a web portal to manage and publish the data. This provides the required functionality such as rights and role model, description with metadata and FAIR publication with DOI.

The lecture is intended to introduce the scientists of the IMK to a concrete offer at KIT for data publication with DOI allocation. The challenge of handling large amounts of data during publication will also be addressed.
