We recently welcomed Dr. Najin Kim from the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST), South Korea as visiting scientist at our institute. The visit is part of the ongoing KIST efforts to foster academic excellence and collaboration across borders. With her expertise in aerosol and cloud condensation nuclei studies, Dr. Kim conducts and leads novel experiment series at our new dynamic cloud simulation chamber AIDAd.

Dr. Najin Kim, together with the AIDAd team, carried out four successful measurement campaigns in 2024 with partners from across the globe. Recent experiments covered ice nucleation and cloud condensation processes of mineral aerosols from deserts and sea spray aerosols from ocean environments. This research enhances the scientific knowledge of important atmospheric aerosol processes, and by that also contributes to improve cloud, weather and climate modelling.

Dr. Kim’s visit enriches our international research community at the KIT AIDA facilities and will provide new perspectives to strengthen the collaboration between KIST and IMK-AAF. Research collaborations at the AIDAd facility will continue to provide a platform for advancing scientific knowledge and innovative developments on a global scale.
