Advanced Meteorological Practical Course 2020 at AIDA.

Since 2016, IMK-AAF organizes each summer semester a one-week practical course for Master students in Meteorology. The students experience the fascination of running experiments at the large-scale AIDA chamber and they are efficiently trained in communication, project planning, and analysis of measurement data in teamwork. In August 2020, KIT nominated the AIDA practical course as a „Research Infrastructure in Research-Oriented Teaching“ activity. The funding by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Baden Württemberg Ministry of Science as part of the Excellence Strategy of the German Federal and State Governments will be used to improve the teaching materials for the practical, to acquire new instruments for the optical imaging of ice crystals, and to install a video camera system to directly monitor cloud formation in the AIDA chamber.
