Germany expands climate research activities

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research decided to substantially support ACTRIS-D as one of three infrastructures recently selected for the National Roadmap on the installation of research infrastructures. ACTRIS-D is the German Consortium of the European Research Infrastructure for the observation and investigation of Aerosols, Clouds and Trace Gases (ACTRIS). By the long-term observations, research activities and infrastructure services, ACTRIS will substantially contribute to develop more robust and reliable predictions for climate, weather and air quality.

ACTRIS-D will be coordinated by TROPOS (Leibniz-Institut für Troposphärenforschung) in Leipzig. IMK-AAF will coordinate the implementation and operation of the topical centre for Cloud In Situ Measurements (CIS). Further partners of CIS are the University of Manchester, the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) and the Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (ZAMG), Austria.
