ATMO-ACCESS develops a new framework for access to atmospheric research infrastructures

ATMO-ACCESS is a new infrastructure project funded by the European Commission after application the INFRAIA-03-2020 call. The project will develop a new framework for access to distributed atmospheric Research Infrastructures.

ATMO-ACCESS is related to the distributed atmospheric research facilities ACTRIS, ICOS and IAGOS and is meant to develop a pilot for a new model of Integrating Activities. The project will deliver a series of recommendations for establishing a comprehensive and sustainable framework for access to distributed atmospheric Research Infrastructures (RI), ensuring integrated access to and optimized use of the services they provide. As one of the 43 involved European atmospheric research facilities, including ground-based observation stations, simulation chambers, mobile facilities and central laboratories, the AIDA cloud simulation chamber of KIT will be a pilot place to test the developed innovative modalities of access to the facility. Within the framework of ATMO-ACCESS, the AIDA team will offer and organize physical and remote access to the facility, will develop and offer integrated data products, and will contribute to develop virtual tools for training. The ATMO-ACCESS project will officially start on April 1st, 2021. The total funding is 15M€ for the period 2021-2025.
