Energy meteorology - the value of weather at the energy market

Tuesday, 08 June 2021, 15:15-16:15
online

Weather is an important factor for the energy price and in the light of increasing share of volatile weather dependent renewable energies such as wind- and PV-power, the importance of weather is rising too. Analysis of weather developments on a wider range of lead times and geographical regions are more and more important to ensure energy supply and to find the right price to provide the energy. After discussing the setup of an electricity price by Merit-Order curve, this talk will be focusing the day to day and seasonal topics of weather analysts for energy trading to provide a brought overview of weather related price effects on energy supply and the need for further improvements.
