MOSES campaign in a pine forest stressed by draught and bark beetle
German pine forests suffer from recent dry years which results in modified VOC and particle emissions
Within the MOSES project groups from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the Forschungszentrum Jülich joined to study the impact of heat waves on the emissions of volatile organic compounds and aerosol particles in a pine forest. For this purpose a measurement container equipped with most advanced mass spectrometers (CHARON-PTR-MS & VOCUS-PTR-MS) was deployed near Kleinhau (Eifel, Germany) in June 2020. First results show dominating emissions of monoterpenes and organic aerosol particles. The aerosol characterizations will be compared to simultaneous measurements of soil moisture and water vapor fluxes.
