ECMWF's ensemble forecasts: model uncertainty representation

Tuesday, 30 November 2021, 15:15-16:15
online via Zoom

The aim of ensemble forecasting is to sample from the probability density of the atmospheric state at a future time. Hence, it is important to accurately represent uncertainties that arise from both, the initial conditions, and the forecast model formulation. The talk will give a short description of the ECMWF medium-range EPS and then focus on the model error representation and future developments in this area.
