The Arctic Research Base AWIPEV in Ny-Alesund, Svalbard, is operated jointly by the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) and the French Polar Institute (IPEV). With the focus on climate change and its implications, long-term observations and short term projects are realized in the fields of atmospheric research, glaciology, marine biology, permafrost and the terrestrial ecosystem. The presentation will give a general overview of the station activities and highlight recent results on aerosols and clouds in the context of the observed climate change.
