Colloquium

Combining contrasting strategies to uncover the processes behind air pollution

Tuesday, 07 July 2020, 15:00-16:00
Virtueller Vortrag via ZOOM

A high load of ozone or particles reduces air quality, hence life quality, not only in urban but also remote habitats. Political regulations were set up to especially lower the emissions of nitric oxide (NO) and volatile organic compounds, which efficiently produce ozone when mixed in the right ratio.

Currently, we observe an emerging shift in the chemical composition to generally lower NO levels, and hence a change in the mechanisms potentially forming ozone. Within this seminar talk I want to discuss the potential of combining contrasting strategies to deeper understand these mechanisms, ranging from overall estimates of budgets to the detailed molecular resolved chemical analysis of oxidation products.
